"The mission is to make someone feel less alone, less ashamed, and more motivated to be authentic."

I always tell others that counseling is a lot like dating. If you are not comfortable opening up to your counselor, it may not be a good fit. So here is a little bit about me to make me a tad more human.

Currently, I live in Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband and two very energetic dogs. I was born in South Africa but mostly grew up in America. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Shockingly, my undergrad was Communication Studies as opposed to Psychology. From there I graduated from East Carolina with my Masters in Counselor Education. My counseling experience includes working in a homeless shelter for addicts and counseling in Wake County high schools. Presently, I work at LifeCare Counseling & Coaching as a Child and Adolescent therapist.

My passion for this blog and my career came from listening to people's stories but also from living out my own life. As a counselor I get the opportunity to see humanity in its most vulnerable form. I sit with the broken in hopes to see them write another chapter in their book. I wonder how many more people would feel less alone and ask for help if they read some real stories and not just polished highlight reels on social media. This is my passion and I'm hoping to help more ladies write a new chapter in their beautiful stories.
